Welcome to rifthead.com. Here you can learn everything you need to know to get of to a good start when playing RIFT.

warriorRift is a fun game and if you haven’t played it yet I recommend that you give it a try. The game is a few years old but it remains very entertaining. It has gone through several updates that have improved the game and the game you can play today is very different from the game that was first release. Almost all aspects of the game has been improved.

Rift is not an advanced game and if you want a cutting edge game with the latest graphics then you should choose a different game such as Witcher 4, Fall out 4 or XCOM 2. If you are looking for a more simple game that offer countless hours of classic gaming than you should give RIFT a try. RIFT feels and play like an updated version of a classical RPG. The game offer riveting single player play as well as multiplayer dungeons, rifts and raids where you play together with other people from other parts of the world. It is possible to learn to play the game and level your character in single player mode. When you feel ready you can find a group and start playing multiplayer content. Multiplayer add another level to the game play and make it even more fun. You get help and support from other players who in return is depending on you.

Rift is free to play and you can try the game without having to pay a cent. (You need an internet connection) If you like the game you can choose to pay for extra add-ons and premium content. There is no limit to how long you can play for free. The original content is some of the best the game has to offer and you can play for hundreds of hours before you have explored the content that is available in the free version of the game. If you want to be able to play all classes and all content you need to buy access to the extensions.

Rift is the best option for any one who are looking for a free MRPG to play online. If you are willing to pay to play I recommend that you also check out World of WarCraft and Knights of the old republic before you decide which game you want to play.

nightblade2Getting started

It is very easy to get started playing RIFT. Start by going to riftgame.com and register to play for free. You will need to enter some basic information such as your desired login and password as well as your email address and location. You do not need to provide a credit card number or any financial information. Once you entered the information you need to accept the TOS and click to register. You will immediately be taken to a page where you can download Glyph. Glyph is just under 40mb and is used to install RIFT on your computer. You will also see some advertising trying to get you to buy extension and other premium articles for the game. I do not recommend that you do that. Wait until you played the game for a while before you decide if you want to buy the extensions or not. Otherwise it can be a waste of money to do so. The extensions will always be available to purchase and their will always be different special campaigns that give you a discount. To not get fooled into believing that you need to buy the extensions right away to get a special one time deal.

Once you have downloaded glyph and installed RIFT is is time to build your first character.

You can choose between four different classes of characters. Each of the classes have their own strength and weaknesses. You can learn more about these weaknesses by clicking the name of each class below. I strongly recommend that you choose a Cleric or Warrior when you start playing the game. These classes are easy to play and allow you to learn how the game works. You are likely going to want to play the game a number of different times with different characters which will allow you to try all the different classes.

Which class you choose will not affect the story of the game but it will affect how you have to play the game. A warrior tend to be in the middle of the action while mages and rouges tend to stay outside the battle field to use ranged or surprise attacks to do their damage. Always consider if you prefer tactical, melee or ranged battle before you choose a character. You can also choose to play as a healer. The healer is a weak unit when you play single player but a very important part of any group that wants to defeat a rift, dungeon or raid.

Once you start playing I recommend that you spend a few hours exploring the world and leveling up before you start looking for a group to join. It will be very hard to find a good group if you are on a low level. Many players that have low levels have just begun playing and might as such not be reliable team mates. Try to reach level 10 or higher before you start looking for a group. You can read about how you do this and how you communicate with other players in the chat in our terminology guide here.
